Course Overview

This course will introduce clergy and faith leaders to the concepts of Bowen Family Systems Theory, to begin thinking about their own role and function within their family as well as their role within their faith communities. Participants interested in a package of 3 individual coaching sessions in addition to this course can contact Sharon directly.

Who is this workshop for?

This course is designed for clergy and lay leaders of churches, synagogues, temples, mosques or other faith communities.  

Learning Objectives

  • To provide an introduction to Bowen Family Systems Theory.
  • To introduce participants to the benefits of working on differentiation of self within their families and in a leadership role within a faith community.
  • To demonstrate how systems thinking can apply to the organizational life of faith communities.

Admission Requirements

An interest in learning about Bowen Family Systems Theory and its application in faith communities and the ability to commit to participating in the six online sessions.

Instructor

Sharon Salomons is an Anglican priest and a Registered Clinical Counsellor.  She has been studying and applying Bowen Family Systems Theory and Therapy to her own life for more than 20 years and in her clinical work and in congregational ministry for about 18 years. She has received training through the Clinical Internship Program at Living Systems Counselling and the Post-Graduate Program at the Bowen Center in Georgetown, Washington D.C.
